TOPIC: Standing On God’s Promises 6: It Reveals Our Ability.
MEMORY VERSE:
Num 23:19
God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
BIBLE READING:
Jdg 6:12
12 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD [is] with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where [be] all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
14 And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?”
The promise of God is a pointer to our ability and what we’ve been called to do. When the promise of God comes, most time we are very far from it and God is trying to direct us to where our ability lies, where He has assigned us. This is one of the reason why we doubt His promise for us because it looks impossible comparing it to where we are at the moment. But what God revealed to us is authentic and can’t be changed all because He has decided to do it. When God revealed His promise to Moses to deliver the Israelite, Moses had many excuses just as we do today, but God gave him reasons why he will do it including an assistant to help him out, likewise, that promise of God for you and i can’t be carried out by someone else except we turned it down.
Gideon has the strength and ability to defeat the Midianites but was focused on storing away food from them until God sent him an Angel to reveal his capabilities. The promise came but seems fake. He rejected and doubted it but alas he accepted it. This is my message to you this morning, you have the ability in you to carry out that promise of God. Stop saying you are not capable of doing it. When God says it, He meant it. Walk into those promises boldly by saying “God said I can do it”, “God said I should do this”, that was the principle Gideon applied and He fulfilled God’s promise over his life. “We Can” as long as God promised it. Walk in the promises of God because the ability is in you.
God Bless you and Good Morning.
Happy Birthday to all celebrants and Happy Wedding Anniversary to those celebrating today. May you experience God’s fruitfulness in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
