Week 8, Day 3:
Tuesday, 13th February, 2024

TOPIC: DIVERSE SERVICES: Killers Of Call – IMITATION (10)

MEMORY VERSE:
Exodus 23:25.
“25. And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

BIBLE READING:
Acts 19:13-16.
“13.Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
16. And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
This day shall be good to us, it shall bring us blessings not curse, and exemption from negativities in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Welcome to the continuation of “Killers of Call”. Another attitude that kills the Call of God is “Imitation”. Imitating others, using others as yardstick to know what to do. Let’s be clear about this, learning from others is totally different from imitating or copying others. When you imitate others, you’re forcing yourself to do what you’re not called to do. This was the case of Ananias and Sapphire in Acts Chapter five (5). They were trying to imitate the likes of Joses called, the Barnabas, who sold his property and gave it to the Apostle, but they weren’t called to do that so they ended up loosing their lives.
The Seven sons of sceva is another example of imitation. They were sons of a Jew and a chief priest. They imitated what they are not called to do, what they aren’t endowed for, so, the spirit enquired of them, who are you? When you imitate other’s calling, you will be questioned by the powers in charge of those areas.
The apostle said in, 1 Corinthians 11:1,
“1. And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.”
We are called to imitate those who imitate Christ according to our calling. When you are not endowed to heal, face what you’re endowed to do. Imitation is the reason for inferiority. Your call isn’t inferior to others, imitate Christ not others.
Good Day and God bless you.
