Topic: YOUR MOUTH, YOUR POWER. 4: Speak Faith Not Just Fact
Memory Verse: Pro. 21:23
23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 4:17-23
17 But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her. 18 And the child grew. Now it happened one day that he went out to his father, to the reapers.
19 And he said to his father, “My head, my head!” So he said to a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”
20 When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.
21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out.
22 Then she called to her husband, and said, “Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and come back.”
23 So he said, “Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.” And she said, “It is well.”
Our Bible reading is about the Shunamite woman who was a philanthropist by nature. She was wealthy and so sensitive to the need of others without expecting a pay back, but she was without a child of her own. One day, her nature led her to meet the need of Prophet Elisha, A double portion Prophet, and she went to the extent of furnishing a house for him. But when her reward came, she proved to be a woman who speaks negatively despite her gift of giving.
Many Christians today are vessels in the hand of God but our problem is, “speaking contrary to God’s words”. We focus on facts more than faith, and that was who the Shunamite woman was. But when the word of God came to pass in her life, by the power of the word of the Prophet, her words changed. She became a positive speaking person. When her child died, she told her husband “all is well” even when it wasn’t well.
How many times have you doubted the word of the Lord to you through the scripture and His servant? Your word determines what you allow in your life. According to the confession of this woman so was what she received. Let your words reflect what God once told you not what the present situation is saying.
Declare what you want in faith not what you see as fact. Say what God has promised you not how the situation looks like because your mouth determines what God will do.
Good morning.
