TOPIC: DON’T BE AN INGRATE 2: Are you An Ingrate?
Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 2:8-9
8 He raises the poor from the dust And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set them among princes And make them inherit the throne of glory. “For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, And He has set the world upon them.
9 He will guard the feet of His saints, But the wicked shall be silent in darkness. “For by strength no man shall prevail.
An ingrate is someone who forgot who he/she was before God’s lifting. Ingrate is an attitude of ingratitude, selfishness or pride. When others had made sacrifices for you to get to the top or attended to you in times of need and you let them down when they are in need of help, you are an ingrate.
After receiving help to be where you are today, and you find someone in that same position you were, and you couldn’t stretch a helping hand, you are an ingrate.
When you look down on the less privilege, you are an ingrate.
When you deny your parent their right as their son or daughter, you are an ingrate.
When you deny those who built you up spiritually and you couldn’t be of blessing to them materially, you are an ingrate.
When your siblings couldn’t get a help from you and you are a philanthropist outside your home, you are an ingrate.
When your spouse lack the resources you have, when you are a helper outside your home and stingy to your household, you are an ingrate.
God lifted you from that poverty state, rejected state, lonely and homeless state, so you could be of help to others too, to rise and help, but when you are not doing this, it can attract the wrath of God. Nobody is an island, God used someone to made you, be a vessel in the hand of God to lift people starting from your immediate family, to people with good and better qualification, remember people in the household of God also, don’t be an ingrate, show gratitude to God by helping people up the ladder of life.
