TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE PRODIGAL SON. (Part 2) 3: Humble Yourself Before God

Memory Verse: Prov. 14:12
“12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But it’s end is the way of death.”

Bible Reading: Luke 15:21
21 And the son said to  him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
Genuine repentance comes with soberness. Ability to see your wrong, accept it and apologize is the prove of repentance.
2 Chronic. 7:14, says,
“14 if My people who are called by My  name will humble themselves, …”
Being people of God doesn’t neglect pride. We might be called the “people of God” and still live arrogantly to God and men. The prodigal son became a humble child to his father, he apologized for his past mistakes, and wasn’t seeking for a place as a son but as a slave in the empire of His Father. This humility and changed of heart proved that, he has learnt his lessons and become a different person. It’s not returning home alone but being sober and willing to face the consequences of your past sins. Going back to those you’ve wrong not to seek for help this time around but to seek forgiveness.
Luke 18:10-14
10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The  Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other;  for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Be the tax collector not the Pharisee. Be humble before God.
Good Morning.
