“10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him,  saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.”

11 But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to  myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and  stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’ 

12 Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage.”

Naaman was a great man, a warrior, highly placed and respected by the King of Syria. Through him that Lord has wrought many victories to the Syrian. Despite all his honour he was leprous. He couldn’t leave amongst men, he must be excluded from the city. His great achievement has raised him higher, that makes him look down on anyone even the God of Israel. He had a slave girl from Israel who told his wife about Prophet Elisha. At the end of it all, he landed in Elisha’s house. Then his ego stood between him and his healing. He felt disgraced when Elisha sent a servant to him, couple with going into a dirty river to take his bath. Naaman would have died a leper if he hadn’t stoop himself low.

Your pride can lead you into problem, bring destruction in that speciality of yours. It can make God look away from you. Always know that, you don’t have everything and others have many things you lack. Your pride can deprive you your next level in life. Don’t be an ingrate because God has lifted you. Work on your ego before it brings you down permanently. Don’t create unnecessary problems for yourself because of God’s blessings on our life.
