TOPIC: WHEN TO PRAISE GOD 6: When You Have Little.
Memory Verse: 1 Thess. 5:18.
“18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Bible Reading: Math 15:32-39
“32 Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
33 Then His disciples said to Him, “Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?”
34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” And they said, “Seven, and a few little fish.”
35 So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.
36 And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude.
37 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left.
38 Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
39 And He sent away the multitude, got into the boat, and came to the region of Magdala.”
Many times we found ourselves complaining and grumbling not because of lack, but because of insufficiency. Not having at all is different from having but not enough. We are always carried away by the fact that it’s not up to what we needed at that present time, forgetting that many still strive and struggle to get what we have. May I tell you this morning, the season of littleness is a season to Praise God. It’s a season to look up to heaven and bless God for the available. It’s a time to thank God with what you have and use it the way it is.
Jesus understood His Father so well that, wherever things are insufficient, He lifts up His voice to Praise God for what is present. When He was about to feed Four Thousand people with “Seven loaves and a few little fish,” He refuse to see the littleness in it, rather He was focused on the Sufficiency of His Father in heaven.
”36 And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude.”
All that Jesus needed to do was to give thanks to His Father, He gave God the praise for the sufficiency of what is present. That you don’t have enough is not a reason to complain or be sad at all. Give God Praise in that situations, Thank Him for making what you have available and move on to use it to His Glory. After the praise, the insufficient becames sufficient and there was still left over. God can work tremendously in us if we will learn to give Him Praise in any situation we are. Stop looking at the incompleteness, Praise God for the available and He will take over from there.
Good Morning.
