Topic: YIELDING TO GOD 6: Yielding To His Will?

MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 6:16.
“16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

BIBLE READING:
Jonah 1:1-3.
“1. Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
2. Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
3. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.”
Yielding to the will of God is another aspect we’ll need to check. Nobody is left out of this area, either a minister or a believer, young or old, this yielding is paramount to us all. From our case study for today, we saw how a Prophet of God decided to yield to His will rather than the will of God. He was appointed to go to Nineveh to deliver a message of repentance to the city but he went to Tarshish instead, why? Not because he was afraid or fearful but he wanted the destructions of the city because of their attitude and behavior.
How often do we find reasons not to go the way of the Lord, carrying out His Will because we have a hurt against a fellow. In anger, envy, jealousy we disobeyed God’s instructions to be of help to others, to be a solution to many and this has put us in the belly of a Whale like Jonah. How often do we try to teach God what to do than to do His Will? Yielding to His will for our lives is paramount than our ambitions. Are we sure we’re not in this situation we found ourselves because we decided to go our own way against His Will? We can always go back to God as Jonah did and seek for His Mercy to fulfill His Will for our lives. Yielding to God’s Will is what we should strive to do.
Good Day and God Bless you.

Topic: YIELDING TO GOD 5: Yielding Of Body?

MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 6:16.
“16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

BIBLE READING:
Romans 12:1.
“1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
By Yielding our mind to God it places us under the control of the Holy Spirit, it makes our mind reason in the way of the Lord but this will not mean our bodies are delivered from the world. When our mind is yielded to God our body also need to yield to God. That was why Jesus said in Matthew 26:41,
“41. Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
The Mind is ready for God’s instructions, but the body is weak because it’s hasn’t yield to God. When you feel like fasting, the body gives reasons not to fast, that’s the body yet to yield to God. When you feel like praying, the body shows you the bed, that’s a body yet to be controlled by God.
Apostle Paul said, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, THAT YE PRESENT YOUR BODIES A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY, ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD, which is your reasonable service.” Meaning, yield that body to God in order to carry out the things of God. Surrender your body to God totally, then you can overcome the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and pride of life, 1 John 2:16.
A Body yielded to God won’t yield to sexual temptation, robbing or cheating others. Let’s Yield our body to the Lord, so He can use it for His purpose and that is what He wants from us. Father help us yield our body to you in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Good Day and God Bless you.
Happy Birthday to all celebrants and Happy Wedding Anniversary to those celebrating today. May you experience God’s fruitfulness in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.

Topic: YIELDING TO GOD 4: Yielding Of Mind?

MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 6:16.
“16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

BIBLE READING:
Romans 12:2
“2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Yielding to either God or devil has it’s origin in the mind. The mind is the foundation of every occurrences we see happening around us today. What goes on in the mind determines what happens in the physical. Who and what you yield your heart to determines who and what controls it.
Apostle Paul said we should not be conformed to this world, you may want to ask, but we are in the world? Yes, we are, but we are not to think like them. A referee is on the pitch of play with other footballers but with a different mindset. What the players considers fair play is different from what he sees as fair play. He is on the pitch but thinks differently from them. That is how it is when a mind is yielded to God. We are to separate our minds from the ways of the world. Our mind must be guided by the things of God and not of the world. Yielding our minds to God makes us walk and live like the god we are created to be. When we think the way the world thinks, we become what the world becomes; evil, heartless, wicked, selfless and selfish. To yield your mind to God you need to guide your sight, ears and heart because those are the entrance to your mind. Guide them jealously.
Good Day and God Bless you.
Happy Birthday to all celebrants and Happy Wedding Anniversary to those celebrating today. May you experience God’s fruitfulness in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.

Topic: YIELDING TO GOD 3: Yielding In Resources?

MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 6:16.
“16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

BIBLE READING:
Deuteronomy 8:17-18
“17. And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.
18. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Humans are made by God no matter How we are. We are all created, sent to the mother earth to fulfill a predestined purpose. Yielding to God is what makes those purpose establish. Little did we know that we can’t secure our lives without the help of the Almighty. So, no matter who we are, we are made to be by God.
God was speaking to the Israelites, reminding them not to forget all He did to make them great. He declared that, “He is the reason for them making wealth and becoming great”, so it will be too foolish for them to say, “The power of their hands has made them great”. Likewise, no matter our levels in life we are to yield our resources to God who made them available because we are who we are by the grace of God upon our lives. All those wealth are given by God to fulfil His purpose over our lives. We’re to use our resources to better the world no matter how great or small our resources are. We’re to surrender to God not to withhold from Him the resources He bestow on us. Using our resources to make lives better is yielding to God our maker because He made us who we are and blesses us with what we have.
Good Day and God Bless you.

Topic: YIELDING TO GOD 2: Yielding In Marriage?

MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 6:16.
“16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 5:21-22, 25
“21. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
23. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
25. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”
Yielding to God goes beyond what we do in the church. It span through every facet of our lives. As couples, we’re not to be an angel in the house of God and a lion in our marriages. The way you live in your marriage – secretly and openly – clearly defines who you are yielding to.
There are principles meant to guide marriages yielded to God. Apostle Paul, speaking to the Ephesians says, “Couples Should Submit To One Another”. This is the first principle of marriage. Couple should honour and submit to one another, it shouldn’t be one sided. A home that’s control by God is not authoritatively built, it’s jointly built on the principles of God. Apostle Paul said, “Wife, submit to your husband… And Husband love their wife” without any condition attached. You’re not to submit to your husband because of wealth or perfection. You’re not to love your wife because she’s better than other women outside there, you’re to love and submit to one another unconditionally.
This is one of the prove of yielding to God. Not because there are no weaknesses but knowing how to handle it and forge ahead.
Is your home yielding to God or the devil? Can you be proud to give a full details of the happenings in your home as a testimony? Yielding your home to God is the responsibility of both in the marriage.
Good Day and God Bless you.

MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 6:16.
“16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

BIBLE READING:
Romans 6:16-17.
“16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17. But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.”
Beloved, it’s a wonderful week for us all in Jesus Mighty, Amen. This week, our focus will be, “Yielding To God”. Who do you belong to? Whose Will do you run after? What guides your decisions or what you say, who do you submit to? This and more will be handled this week, may God give us an entrance to His word in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
We can only yield to the power and authority. We can’t be in between, it’s either we are for God or devil and this can be identify by who we obey, listen to and try to please. Jesus speaking in the Matthew 6:24, said,
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
I like us to search ourselves this day, who do you love and who do you hate, God or the devil? Being in the church doesn’t implies who you yield to, it can only be determine by what you do. My question to us today is, Who are you yielding to?
Good Day and God Bless you.

Topic: RISK TAKERS 7. Risk Preaching The Gospel.

MEMORY VERSE:
Deuteronomy 1:6.
“6. The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:”

BIBLE READING:
Acts 14:19-21.
“19. And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
20. Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
21. And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
As we round up our study on the topic, “Risk Takers”, we are considering the life of Apostle Paul, who spread the Gospel even more than the Apostles who walked with Jesus why? Because He took more risk than any of the Apostles during and after His days. Paul was speaking in 2 Corinthians 4:8-10,
“8. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9. Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10. Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”
He was a man who risk His life for the Gospel and we can see his exploit in the world today. Is it possible to preach or teach the Gospel without referencing his writings? It’s very hard. How far can we take risk for the Gospel? Are we not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ with our ways of life? What risk are we taking for the Gospel? How often do we preach about Jesus? This is the greatest risk we should take daily in our lives. We should let it be part of our lives by making people know we belong to Jesus wherever we are. Be a risk taker for the Gospel of Christ.
Good Day and God Bless you.
Happy Birthday to all celebrants and Happy Wedding Anniversary to those celebrating today. May you experience God’s fruitfulness in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.

Topic: RISK TAKERS 6. Obedience; Friuthful Risk

MEMORY VERSE:
Deuteronomy 1:6.
“6. The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:”

BIBLE READING:
Genesis 22:1-3.
“1. And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
3. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
The hardest risk to take is the risk that comes as an instruction from God and through His servants. Risk that looks so foolish and selfish. Imagine an old man with only a son and God said give me your son as a sacrifice. Am hungry for the sacrifice of your child, I feel like taking him back to myself. The Old man foolishly took his son, without the knowledge of his mother, went to the mountain to give him to God, that is risk in obedience.
2 kings 4: 1- 7, A widow went to a man of God for the debt of her late husband. The lender came for his money and God’s servant said, “Go and borrow again” how do you respond to that? Risky Obedience
2 kings 5: 8 -14, Naaman, a warrior with leprosy, needed healing, was before Elisha for cleansing and was told to go to a small (unrecognized) and dirty river to wash himself up, Risky Obedience.
This is what God wants from us, not to question His instructions, are we willing to go this far with our risk.
Good Day and God Bless you.

Loyalty Is a Risk

MEMORY VERSE:
Deuteronomy 1:6.
“6. The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:”

BIBLE READING:
Ruth 1:16-18.
“16. And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
17. Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
18. When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.”
One of the stories of the Bible that is filled with lessons whenever I read through it, Is the story of Ruth. Who was she? A young widow without a child also no brother in-law, and still determine to remain with her Mother in-law. Reasoning about what was on her mind when she made this risk? I believe this was her thought, “I am married to this family till death do us part. This is my mother in-law and I can’t leave her alone without a Husband or a child. I will surely stand by here as loyalty to my late husband, I will remain as her only daughter and we will be together.” What a deep thought. That is one of the greatest risk of the Bible, no hope for marriage because she wasn’t ready to let go from the woman.
To be loyal to that spouse of yours in challenging times is a risk you need to take as long as you are together. Her loyalty to that family earned her a great-grand -mother to David and the linage of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are risk to take in our marriages, ministries, place of work, even our extended family that may seems foolish but it’s a sign of loyalty. How far is your loyalty with your challenged friend? God rewards risk of loyalty with lasting reward. We are reading about Ruth but nothing more about Orpah. What will be said about you also?
Good Day and God Bless you.
