TOPIC: THERE IS SECOND CHANCE 3:  Seeking His Counsel Brings Second Chance

Memory Verse:
Micah 7:8
8 Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise;  When I sit in darkness, The LORD will be a light to me.

Bible Reading:
1 Sam. 30:1-5,8,18-19
1 Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire,
2 and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way.
3 So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive.
4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5 And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive.
7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest,  Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
8 So David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all. ”
18 So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and  David rescued his two wives. 19 And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all.
We are very familiar with this second Chance given to King David to-be. David went out to fight against the children of Israelite while hiding with the Philistine, (1 Sam. 29). He was denied going to the battle field with the Philistines. So, God was angry with David and sent the Amalekites to David’s camp who carried away all their families and belongs.
The scripture said, they all wept when they got back to the camp and met it empty. His followers were ready to stone David for leading them to battle when their families were carried away, but David sought the face of the Lord His God through Abiathar the priest, and God gave him the nod to go after the Amalekites. David and his people then recovered all that was carried away from them.
Seeking God’s face in times of challenges bring a Second Chance. It simply means you are handing over to God for His will to be done. When you seek His will, it comes as a Second Chance. Jesus said,
“Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” Matthew. 6:10
When God’s will is done, it comes as a Second Chance. I pray with you today, as we seek His face this week, our Second Chance will Manifest in Jesus Mighty Name. He will give us directives to break forth in Jesus Mighty Name. Seek His face to receive the next step to take concerning that pressing issue of your life. Enough of men information, seek God’s face and your situation will change for good in Jesus precious name, Amen.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: THERE IS SECOND CHANCE 2: Mercy Brings Second Chance

Memory Verse:
Micah 7:8
8 Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise;  When I sit in darkness, The LORD  will be a light to me.

Bible Reading:
Gen. 16:16-16.
15 So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram  named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
16 Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar  bore Ishmael to Abram.
Gen. 17:1.
1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.
Our Father, Abraham, was a man of Faith. His faith was spoken of in Hebrews 11. The scripture said, he believed in the Lord and it was accounted to him as righteousness, Rom. 4:3. Abraham was a product of second chance. In chapter 16 of Genesis, he forsook God’s promises and danced to the tune of his wife (Sarah) by accepting the offer of Hagar in order to have a child. He disobeyed God’s instructions. He never deem it fit to confirm from God and the result was Ismail. Thirteen years later, God’s mercy searched for Abraham, gave him a second chance. God’s Mercy, that supersedes our wrongs and iniquities will locate us in Jesus Mighty Name.
God visited Him and gave Him another chance to walk faithfully and be blameless. He reminded him of all His promises in the past and still assured him of bringing them to pass. God is giving you a second chance this week, Amen.
Romans 9:15-16,
For He says to Moses, “I  will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” 16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.”
1.Lift your voice to God this morning and begin to ask for Mercy for Second Chance.
2. Father, Give me another chance through your Mercy. As your Mercy located Father Abraham, Lord let your Mercy locate me in Jesus Precious name, Amen.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: THERE IS SECOND CHANCE 1: By Waiting On God

Memory Verse:
Micah 7:8
8 Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise;  When I sit in darkness, The LORD  will be a light to me.

Bible Reading:
Job 42:10-11
10  And the LORD restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then all his brothers, all his sisters, and all those who had been his acquaintances before, came to him and ate food with him in his house; and they consoled him and comforted him for all the  adversity that the LORD had brought upon him. Each one gave him a piece of silver and each a ring of gold.”
Our God is full of mercy from generation to generation. He is the God that is slow in judgement. His love towards His children is everlasting. He makes provision for second chance to all His children. He never wants any of His children to perish or miss His plan for them. I don’t know how you might have missed it before now, but i am here to let you know that, God still have another chance for you no matter your situation.
God specializes in bringing back “Old Good Day in a Fresh Way”. I don’t know the chances you’ve missed but my God is preparing another chance for you like He did to Job and many of our father’s in the past in Jesus Mighty Name.
Am leaving you today with the memory verse again, say it with Faith,
“8 Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The LORD will be a light to me.”
Our Father, Job, once lost everything, he was a man sitting in darkness, loneliness, rejected stage in life. His wealth waxed away by the devil and he became the poorest of the poor. But He never gave up on God, and he said,
Job 14:14,
“If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, Till my change comes.
Job’s words were words of encouragement, believe, hope and not of down casted. Don’t give up even when there’s reasons to give up. If you will believe, there is a second chance awaiting you, keep waiting On God.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

HIS CALLING IS ALWAYS GREATER

Memory Verse:
Romans 8:30
“30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”

Bible Reading:
Luke 5:9-10.
“9 For he and all who were with him were  astonished at the catch of fish which they had  taken;
10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with  Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “DO NOT BE AFRAID. FROM NOW ON YOU WILL CATCH MEN.”
God always have better option whenever He calls one from where he is. Either we are doing fine or otherwise, So far He called you to change what you are doing, be rest assured, He is taking you to a better place. When God calls you, it’s a higher calling compare to where He found you.
Peter was an expertise fisherman, that was the highest level he would have attained in life. That was His profession and he was hard working. But when the call of God came upon him, he became  “Fishers Of Men”. He was lifted to be an Apostle of Jesus Christ. We are called Christians today because he accepted the call to extend the work of Jesus Christ, our Lord, after His death. Many run from the call of God upon their lives because of “Fear of the Unknown”. Listen to me, whichever discipline you choose in life, they are full of challenges but for the call of God, you are rest assured, you are sent on an errand by God and He can’t abandon you along the way.
Are you here this morning still doubting if you should answer that call upon your life? Am assuring you today, He won’t leave you if He is the one calling you. Answer Him as the small Samuel did, as Elisha did, and as the Apostles did, and you will be glad you did.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

BE HUMBLE ALWAYS

Memory Verse:
James 4:6
“6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

Bible Reading:
Luke 5:8-9.
“8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at  Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
9 For he and all who were with him were  astonished at the catch of fish which they had  taken;”
Often, we believers sees the mercies of God upon us as being a result of our righteousness, faithfulness, or our services to God. We feel we are qualified for those blessings, help and favours we’ve enjoyed. That we are alive is not a prove of our faithfulness, but a prove that God loves us and want us to be a useful vessel in His hand.
Peter identify that, what he received he never deserve. He was optimistic that he wasn’t qualified for such blessing from God. He cried to Jesus to depart from Him because he was a sinful man and this shows how humble Peter can be in the hand of God.
When things are working for you, be humble. Those miracles, favours, blessings, help and faithfulness of God around you is a way of God calling you to himself. Be humble to see all these benefits as unmerited favour of God and surrender to Him. He is seeking for your attention. Come and dine with Him, He is calling you as He called Simon Peter but your humility is very important before you can be used of God. How Humble are you my Brethren? Can you humble yourself before Him as a useful vessel? He wants the humble in heart.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

NOT BY EFFORT

Memory Verse:
Romans 9:16
“So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.”

Bible Reading:
Luke 5:6-7
6 And when they had done this, they caught a  great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
7 So they signaled to  their partners in the other  boat to come and help them. And they came and  filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.”
God is ready to enlarge our coast. He is ready to make us great beyond our request. Most times we depend on our effort and not His blessings. We focus on our experiences and professionalism than God’s ability. The attention we are suppose to give God we divert to business but still, we end up toiling without good result for our effort. God determines the happenings around us, when you give Him attention He attend to your needs specially.
Peter would have replied Jesus, “Oga am tired, pls come down from my boat, am going home” but he didn’t. All his effort amounted to nothing throughout the night but he still attended to Jesus. Jesus told him to try again and spread the net, he complained about his toiling through the night but still went on to do according to his instructions and the blessings show forth.
Peter would have explained the time and season of fishery to Jesus, that the fish will be resting by now, as we believe the time for serving God is our business time. We give more attention to our business than the things of God. We hardly sacrifice our time to hear His plan for our life but plan our business diligently. He needs our attention to reach out to us. Do you give Him the attention He’s requesting from you?
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: STUDY ON LUKE 5:1-11: 4. ACT BEYOND YOUR DOUBT

Memory Verse: Is. 1:19.
“19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;”

Bible Reading: Luke 5:4-6
“4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to  Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down  your nets for a catch.”
5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master,  we have toiled all night and caught nothing;  nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.
There are times when prophesies came through people we never believe could be used by God or people with doubtable character, as long as the prophesy is not negative, do the needful and move on. God can use anybody and anything to speak to you. Even when you are in doubt, give it a trial as long as it doesn’t have negative impart on your life.
Jesus said to Peter, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” Two instructions were given to Peter,
1. Launch out into the deep – go back to your duty post,
2. Let down the NETS for a catch – stretch more than one net to the sea.
But Peter carried out the first instruction fully but half of the second  instruction. He let down a Net and not the Nets, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
Letting down a net was a tremendous blessing to him but how would it have been if he let down the nets?
Believe God for what He say He will do. Follow His instructions fully, even when you are in doubt, because God is not a player, He means what He says. Be willing to carry out all His instructions by Faith and the result will be yours.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

INSTRUCTIONS PRECEDES GOD’S BLESSINGS

Memory Verse:
Duet. 28:1
“1 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently  obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I  command you today, that the LORD your God will  set you high above all nations of the earth.”

Bible Reading:
Luke 5:3-4.
“4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.””
Many Christians didn’t fail in prayers, fastings or service but failed in obeying and carrying out God’s instructions. God doesn’t bless you without giving you an instruction. The answers to our prayers are always instructions, directions and commandment. So when you fail the instructions you loose the blessings, I pray for someone today, may you be able to recognise and follow God’s instructions rightly in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
Peter gave all he had with him to Jesus ministry but that doesn’t bring the blessing directly. Instructions follows after his service, commitment and sacrifice. Just like Naaman, he was expecting Elisha to come and lay hands on him and receive the healing but it came with an instruction. Likewise, instruction was given to Peter, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” God is not a magician, He has principles to every blessings He releases. Most times, His instructions looks stupid, foolish and insultive so, we loose the blessings attached to it.
Can you have a rethink, hope you’ve not rejected the instruction that was meant to lead you out of that situations? Hope you’ve not ridiculed God’s commandment because they look too normal or doesn’t look real? God might have finish your case long time by giving you some instructions to follow but you’ve not acted on them. If yes, search it out and start doing what He says. Yes, you’ve given all to God, you’ve serves Him with your time, but are you following His instructions?
Father, open my eye, my ears and my heart to your instructions in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR HIM?

Memory Verse:
1 Corinth. 4:7
“7 For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?”

Bible Reading:
Luke 5:2-3
“2 and saw two boats  standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone  from them and were washing their nets.
3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.”
Everything you have is from God. Whatever He gives you is meant for His glory. He needs those things for His glory and when you withhold it from Him He stops the increasing.
Yesterday, we saw how people were eager to hear God’s word and the extent they went with Jesus. Jesus needed a podium or an altar to reach out to them. Then He found two boats, which the owners were tired after a long day with fruitless labour. They’ve done all they could but couldn’t catch a fish. Jesus went into one of the boats and called the owner to paddle it around in order to reach out to the crowd.
God won’t bless or Increase what you have if you deny Him what you own presently. Sir’s and Ma’s, what you have is not for you alone, God kept it with you for an appointed time. Stop giving excuses for withholding from God. Peter obeyed Jesus instructions, gave himself and his boat to God, regardless of his tiredness and his time schedule. He satisfied Jesus with everything he own. Give God your time. Give Him yourself. Give Him your resource, they are not just meant for you, it’s for God’s use. Stop denying people their blessing, release it to them. God needs those things in your hands to bless their lives. Let God have access to you and what you have.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

1. EAGERNESS FOR GOD’S WORD.

Memory Verse: Jere. 15:16
“16 Your words were found, and I ate them,  And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.”

Bible Reading: Luke 5:1
“1 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the  Lake of Gennesaret,”
The thirst for God’s word in Christianity is very rare these days. Believers have develop the “over familiarity” attitude to God’s word. The eagerness to Know, Hear and Read God’s word is no more. We go to church to dance, sing and chat with friends but the eagerness for God’s word is dried off, may He help us all in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen. The word comes to us but we are not ready to receive it, how eager are you for God’s Word?
From our Bible reading, Jesus was locating a good position in order to satisfy the hunger of the people for God’s word. The scripture said, “they press around to hear the word of God”. They were so thirsty for the word of God. This made Jesus to search for a podium to  teach the crowd and satisfy their longing for God’s word.
When going to the place of worship, do you go there to hear the word or meet with friends? Are you ready to do the word or you are there to criticize the word? When the word of God comes and reveal our sins to us, how do we receive it? Jeremiah said, “Your words were found, and I ate them,” how often do we eat God’s word? We rather screen God’s word and select what pleases us. Most men of God try to preach selective words in order not to hurt the financial of the church. Where do you belong? Are you interested in God’s word or other activities in His presences? Do you have the time to open God’s word daily?
God Bless you and Good Morning.
