TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE ROMAN OFFICER: Reputation Moves Or Stop God. (4)

MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 2:3
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

BIBLE READING:
Luke 7:6
“6 So Jesus went with them….”
Thinking Point:
“Most times, God responds to our reputation than our words and prayer.”
May God reward your good deals in Jesus name, Amen. There’s this word I like to say, that, “God doesn’t just listen to our prayers but he grant us what we deserve”. Yes, some Christian’s behaviour and attitude works against their desired life style. They do evil but seek God to do them good. They refuse to help or bless others but pray that God blesses them, that is not who God is. God is principled, what you make happen to others is what He makes happen to you not just your prayers. One can’t be a wicked soul and keep praying to God to protect him/her from evil, no, the only thing He will permit for such person is the law of karma. What people tells God about you is weightier than the request you place before God. Remember Galatia 6:7 which says,
“7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.” God isn’t partial, He is just.
God rewards seeds than our prayers, your reputation is much more important than your prayers.
The Roman Officer need not to pray for the healing of his servant. Jesus, hearing his reputation from the Jewish Elders was enough to move to his house. Remember Tabitha, named Dorcas, in Acts 9:26-42, she was not alive to speak for herself or pray, it was her reputation that Apostle Peter heard and he went to restore her back to life. Will our reputation move God to attend to our situations? Hope our helpers won’t be discouraged by our reputation? Let’s live a life that will move God to attend to us even when we are not praying. Our reputation moves God than our words, build good reputation brethren.
Good Day and God bless you.

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE ROMAN OFFICER: Your Reputation By Others (3)

MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 2:3
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

BIBLE READING:
Luke 7:4-5
4 So they earnestly begged Jesus to help the man. “If anyone deserves your help, he does,” they said,
5 “for he loves the Jewish people and even built a synagogue for us.” (NLT)
Thinking Point:
Your Reputation from other’s view is what defines the real you not what you say about yourself.
Brethren, today shall be fill with result in Jesus mighty name, Amen. Learning further from the Roman Officer, after Meeting with the respected Jewish Elders, they all went to speak with Jesus about him. Mind you, many of the Jewish spoke against Jesus often in the temple and criticized His teachings but because of this Officer, they put aside their differences to meet with Jesus. They went straight to their point, gave a good reputation of this man, what he has done for the synagogue and many other things, they topped it up by saying, “if anyone deserves your help, He does”. What a reputation from the Jewish Elders to Jesus about a politician! This was very clear that, the Roman Officer gave listening ear to the Jewish Elders, he is a good man and respected by many if not all.
What you say about yourself is not as weighty compared to what others says about you, yes, you may have many haters but some will still defend you at all cost. Check around yourself, what are people saying about you? Jesus asked the disciples about His reputation, “Who do people say I am? … And who do you say I am? Mark 8:27-29. What people say about you may be their opinion, but from what many says about you too, you get to know your reputation. Even in your home, who do people say you are to your spouse, children, parent, friends and co-members in your department, what reputation do you keep? This can help you identify who you are and who you are meant to be. Your reputation is very important to who you will become.

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE ROMAN OFFICER: Wealthy And Humble (2)

MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 2:3
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

BIBLE READING:
Luke 7:3
3 When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his slave.
Thinking Point:
Position, Title, Mantle, Wealth and Power are all temporary, don’t let them control you, be Humble.
This week, the blessings of the Lord shall be released on us in Jesus name, Amen. As we continue with lessons learnt from the Roman Officer, our focus today is His Humility in approaching Jesus. With the caliber and position he belongs, he would have sent his servants to call Jesus to heal his servant. Wagons would have been arranged or enticed him with wealth so Jesus could come to his house but because of his humility, He went through the Jewish Elders to invite Jesus to heal his valued servant, this is humility displayed with wisdom.
How humble are we to others? Can we contact our men of God for such help and it will be granted without settlement and sentiment? Are we controlled by position, wealth or fame? With humility, he went to the respected Jewish Elders because of his rapport with them. They knew him as a respected Roman Officer, how are you known? What is our relationship with ministers, members and co-workers: arrogance? Humility has a lot to do for us than pride can do to us. Be humble, someone was once in that position before you, build good cordial relationship with your wealth, fame, position and title before you will handover to someone else. Humility pays more than arrogance.

Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 20 Day (1) Sunday, 12th May 2024 TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE ROMAN OFFICER: Value Equally (1)

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM THE ROMAN OFFICER: Value Equally (1)

MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 2:3
3 Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

BIBLE READING:
Luke 7:2
2 At that time the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death.
Thinking Point:
Everyone has value no matter their level. What you don’t value is what you abuse.
Welcome to another wonderful week, the Lord, who grants success, will make this week a successful one for us all in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
This week our study will focus on “The Roman Officer”. As Christians, we have a lot of lessons to learn from this humble officer which shall be unfold this week. We shall start with the first lesson which is, “Value Equally”. Valuing everyone around our lives doesn’t involve much cost. Many of us place value on our families, relatives, children and spouse but look down on others even when they are older than we do. Some values their pastors, Bishops and Reverend above their spouse. That maid, gateman, gardener and cook needs to be valued also. The difference between you and them is the opportunity you had.
The Roman Officer had slaves and he valued them. The way he valued his slave was so great that he lost his peace when he fell sick. Brethren, how far do you value your staffs, workers, co-workers and family member? Stop giving value by position, everybody deserved to be honoured not until they become great or important. Value everyone equally, it won’t take away your honour.
Good Day and God bless you.

Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 19 Day (7) Saturday, 11th May 2024 TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Good Behavior Speaks (7)

TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Good Behavior Speaks (7)

MEMORY VERSE:
James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 18:14-15.
“14. And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.”
“15. Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.”
Thinking Point:
Your behaviour is what describes you, and determines what you get from God and Men.
Everyone is easily described by their behavior, either good or bad. This behavior is a pointer to what you enjoy or lack, your behaviour speaks louder than your voice. There are two things that behavior attracts to you which is what we are discussing this morning,
“1. Your behaviour either attracts or repels God’s presence. The scripture said of David, “And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; AND THE LORD WAS WITH HIM.” Your behavior either attracts or repels God’s presence around you. David’s behavior attracted God’s presence even in the mist of enmity with the king. When you have a good behavior the Lord will always be with you. Joseph’s behaviour made the presence of the Lord be with him even in Portiphar’s house, Genesis 39. Can your behaviour attract God’s presence in your home and life?
“2. Your behaviour threatens your enemies, they become fearful of you despite being your enemy. The scripture said of Saul, “WHEREFORE WHEN SAUL SAW THAT HE BEHAVED HIMSELF VERY WISELY, HE WAS AFRAID OF HIM.”
Your behaviour will make men run from harming you. Before they act they know they are a failure for attacking you. How well do you behave? Can your behaviour threatened your enemy and draw God’s presence to you? Can I say this as I round up this morning, “what you are going through presently might be as a result of your behaviour”. Work on your behaviour for God to speak for you.
Good Day and God bless you.

Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 19 Day (6) Friday, 10th May 2024 TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Be Happy For Other’s Victory (6)

TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Be Happy For Other’s Victory (6)

MEMORY VERSE:
James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 18:14-16.
“14. And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.”
“15. Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.”
“16. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.”
Thinking Point:
“When you’re excited for other’s breakthrough and success, you tend to be celebrated too”.
In our last study, we discuss about jealousy being the root of all evil. The alternative route to escape jealousy is to be happy and excited with other’s success. When you celebrate with others it’s a way of magnetising celebration to one’s self. Many troubles in life would have been avoided if we are happy for other’s achievement. Source of every enmity is being sad for other’s joy, envying others breakthrough and achievement, this was the beginning of Saul’s problem with David, but reverse was the case with Jonathan, King Saul’s son. He was happy with every achievement of David, he made him he’s best friend, gave him all his royal apparel as a sign of his friendship and this made him a free man everywhere he goes. The victory of David brought joy to all Israel and Judah while the king wasn’t happy for David.
How do you feel with other’s achievement? How do you react when others achieve a new height, are you happy or sad? When we seems bitter for other’s accomplishment we tend to reject great things coming around us. Celebrate others, their achievement doesn’t affect yours, yours will also become a reality if you will put more efforts and be glad for others. King Saul should have looked away from what the women were singing and focus on celebrating and rewarding David for taking the shame away from Israel. Don’t put yourself in the web of bitterness for other’s accomplishments, try to celebrate others and it will be your turn to be celebrated.
Good Day and God bless you.

Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 19 Day (5) Thursday, 9th May 2024 TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Jealousy Birth Wickedness (5)

TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Jealousy Birth Wickedness (5)

MEMORY VERSE:
James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 18:10-11.
“10. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.”
“11. And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.”
Thinking Point.
When Jealousy is not controlled, taming your actions will be difficult. Uncontrolled jealousy is uncontrolled wickedness.
The most dangerous people to be around with are jealous people, especially when you never know they are jealous of you. Nothing pleases them about you, all your effort to make them happy leads to more envy and negative thoughts. David had put behind him his victory over Goliath, he’s back to his assignment to cast out evil spirit from Saul but the evil spirit in Saul has graduated to jealousy, so sighting David increases King Saul’s wicked act, I pray for someone today, God will rescue you from the spirit of jealousy, neither shall we be a victim of jealousy in Jesus name, Amen. The only way to escape the spirit of jealousy is through the Spirit of God. David would have been dead if he lacks this spirit in him. King Saul, a warrior, who has won battles in time past, targeted David twice at close range with a javelin and he missed it, It was God not smartness.
Wherever we are this morning, I’ll like to ask you, does it worth it? That jealousy towards your brother like Cain did to Abel, Genesis chapter 4, like Absalom towards Amnon, 1st Samuel 13, how did it end? It always end with wickedness. Saul never ended well because of his jealousy towards David. Jealousy in marriage destroys homes, jealousy in ministry takes one out of God’s presence. Jealousy in places of work has sent many to early grave depriving them joy in their homes, but come to think of it, no matter how long we stay on earth we will also die, why killing others for what’s not yours? When Jealousy is not controlled, taming your actions will be difficult. Uncontrolled jealousy is uncontrolled wickedness, it’s time to let go and let God take it’s place in your life. Forgiveness is the key out of jealousy, make use of it and let God heal your wound.

TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Beware Of Fighting God (4)

MEMORY VERSE:
James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 18:9.
“9. And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.”
Thinking Point.
You may end up fighting against God while fighting men. Pick your battles wisely.
In the earlier chapter, Prophet Samuel anointed David as a replacement of King Saul unknowingly to Saul. This anointing qualifies David as untouchable to anyone. This was also the reason for his victory over Goliath but this was not known to King Saul. Now, Saul chose that same David as his enemy, is that not deadly? No man can prevail against God’s anointed which is the reason David never took advantage to Kill King Saul when he found the opportunity.
Many times we fail and are defeated because we are fighting against God and until we realize and turn back it may not end well. When God calls someone, it signifies”He is Anointed” , “The Untouchable” meaning God is their vigilante, no harm reaches them. When you choose to fight such persons you are opposing God. Speaking and fighting against God’s anointed, is a deadly fight. Saul fought against David until God ended his life. May we not oppose God knowingly and unknowingly in Jesus Mighty Name. Many David are around us today, we need to desist from opposing them in order not to oppose God.

TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Beware Of Competition (3)

MEMORY VERSE:
James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 18:9.
“9. And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.”

Thinking Point.
You don’t succeed by competing, you succeed by focusing on your assignment.
Life and age differs. Seasons and purpose may look alike but they aren’t the same for every one. No matter who is under your tutelage, he can’t run your vision or your dream, they can only function according to their assignment, so you don’t need to compete or compel them to run your vision. Your season isn’t the same with that person you’re competing with. You may start earlier than him/her but he will still meet up with what God has assigned him/her, stop trying to be the person you’re not called to be.
King Saul was carried away thinking the throne belong to his family. He began to compete with a seventeen year old boy. He left his throne in search for David in cages, wilderness, even in the boarder of the Philistia, but at the end, David’s season came and he took the same throne he was protecting for his son. Yes, being in the same line of business is not a reason to compete, just keep doing more than what you’ve been doing in time past. You don’t need to bring others down so you can rise, if you do, some day you may still be down and someone else’s risen up because your season will expire. To compete is, believing someone is better than you which is not right, that person just discovered something about himself that you’re yet to discover about yourself, so you need to think better by focusing on yourself not the other person. Just like competing that you will stop someone from entering God’s Kingdom, it’s not up to you to decide, likewise it’s not up to you to call yourself the winner against your competitors. Be good in what you’re called to do and success will be yours.
Good Day and God bless you.

Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 19 Day (2) Monday, 6th May 2024 TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Taming The Mouth (2)

TOPIC: LESSON FROM KING SAUL AND DAVID: Taming The Mouth (2)

MEMORY VERSE:
James 1:19
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 18:7-8.
“7. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.”
Thinking Point:
The words from our mouth either have a positive or negative impact on us and others, always think before you speak.
The lifting and downfall we experience most times are results of the words of mouth. Discouraging or encouraging others is also a product of the mouth, how do we speak and what do we say often, does our words hurt or heals others? Do we destroy or build our lives with our words? We need to use our words to build, instill courage and impact others and ourselves. When we are joyful do we watch what we say? When we are going through tough times, do we constructively use our words?
The women’s words penetrated the heart of King Saul which prompted negative thought and action in him. Relegating a Sitting King to the back because of a seventeen year old boy’s victory isn’t right. Those words, because of over joy, brought enmity between the King and David. When we are expressing joy we need to control our emotions and words in order not injure others. That song then, led to lost of many lives in Israel between the men of David and supporters of King Saul. Although, the word wasn’t targeted at anyone but we need to taste our words before spilling them. King Saul saw it as an embarrassment to him and sought ways to kill David. Watch your words to others and towards yourself. What you are saying, will it damage or build others? Think before speaking.
