TOPIC: Lessons from The Blind Bartimaeus. Calling Him By Name (5)

MEMORY VERSE:
Ephesians 5:16
16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

BIBLE READING:
Mark 10:47.
“47. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”
Welcome to a wonderful day beloved of God, as we proceed with our study on The Blind Bartimaeus. Another lesson to learn from this man was calling Jesus by His real name, have you noticed that? Most times Jesus was addressed as the Son of God, son of Mary, Jesus Christ, but Blind Bartimaeus called Jesus differently, meaning he had a pre-knowledge of whom Jesus is. The scripture said he cried out saying, “Jesus, thou Son of David” a wonderful knowledge of whom Jesus is from a blind Man. Our knowledge of whom we speak to determine His response to our cry. Calling Jesus by name, Thou Son Of David, Jesus the Messiah, Jesus The Son Of God, is a way to enhance response to our prayers. When Abraham was on His way to sacrifice His son Isaac, He made the same statement when Isaac made inquiries about the sacrifice, Abraham called God “The Provider”, and God did made the provision, Gen 22:7-8. What you call God determines His speedy response to your request.
When you pray, what do you call Him? What knowledge of God do you apply when relating with Him? That’s the need of praising God when we pray, to call Him by names which makes Him listen to our request. Who do you know God to be? Relate with Him more than just a God but as Father, Source, Dependant, Saviour, not just what other says but your experience of Him. Blind Bartimaeus attracted Jesus through the knowledge of Jesus’ name.
Good Day and God bless you.

BIBLE READING:
Mark 10:47.
“47. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”
Welcome to the continuation of Blind Bartimaeus. Today we move further to Acting positively on your information. After processing the information he got, no body told him Jesus could heal him but He got to know through processing and asking question about who Jesus is and what he has heard about Him. The scripture said, he began to cry out, not knowing Jesus’ location. Many information we got but didn’t applied led many to regrets and self blame. Some got information without sieving it before applying and it destroyed their marriages. Don’t just process the information, apply it with one mind. He cried regardless of the crowd, his blindness and his distance to where Jesus was, until Jesus heard him. Those ideas you’ve been getting, it’s time to start applying them. Those information you’ve received but doubted, it’s time to put them to work without discouragement. See that information as the key to your breakthrough just the same way Blind Bartimaeus saw Jesus’ passing as the only needed breakthrough. Stop doubting every information, stop creating the negative side of it. Be truthful and act on it after well processed and act wisely on that processed information.
Good Day and God bless you.

BIBLE READING:
Mark 10:47.
“47. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”
A blessed day in the name of JESUS as we progress into the day’s activity. Yesterday, we discussed about being sensitive with the moves around us. When we sensed the happenings and get the information, what do we do with the information? Some start seeing the negative side of that news, fear of the unknown creep into their heart about the situation and they jumped into negative conclusion. How do you handle the information you get from others?
Bartimaeus received the information and taught of how it could work in his favour. He knew this Jesus can make him see again and he opted for that. He could have focus on his blindness as a reason not to see Jesus but he trashed that away.
A short story of two salesmen sent to a country where people walked bare footed. One returned that shoes can’t be patronized there while the other said, it’s the best place to market shoes, it all depends on how you handle the information you get. Many of us had mishandled right information in the past and this has cost us so much. Imitate the Blind Bartimaeus from today on, don’t be negative about all information. Process every information before acting or reacting.
Good Day and God bless you.

BIBLE READING:
Mark 10:47.
“And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.”
A lovely day with productivity in Jesus Mighty name. As we continue our study on Bartimaeus, he was a man who was sensitive to the happenings around him. He heard sounds of crowd, though he couldn’t see, he knew something unusual was happening and never took it lightly, so he asked questions. How sensitive are we with what’s going on around us? Sometimes the occurrences around us is telling us to change position, sometimes to pray and sometime to ask for help. Yours might even be a time to render a help, solve a problem or ask questions. Blind Bartimaeus’ sensitivity made him asked questions, “Please what is going on? Why the crowd? He asked questions not because of dangers or to beg for arm, but he was curious of the movement, how curious are you with situations around you, place of work, within your family, church and environment? You need to be sensitive because you don’t know when God will be passing, when He will be visiting you like Abraham. How sensitive are you? Don’t just wave informations away, be curious of what the happenings around you is.
Good Day and God bless you.

BIBLE READING:
Mark 10:46.
“46. And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, Blind Bartimaeus, The Son Of Timaeus, Sat By The Highway Side Begging.
Good day Beloved of God and welcome to this new week filled with God’s purpose for our lives. This week, our search light will be on Blind Bartimaeus, the blind man who received His sight miraculously, what was His contribution and how did Jesus healed him?
Firstly, this man was rightly positioned, Yes, he had a good location, the scripture says, “By the high way side”, not in the jungle or a corridor where no one can locate him. Many of us are wrongly positioned in life, we stay with friends with different ideas, remain with families, we don’t want to be alone, we want to yoke with others thereby, we are far from the reach of God. Remember, God told Isaac to stay in Gerar, Gen. 26:1-2, but many of us left for Egypt too soon. Where are you position? Your located determines what comes your way. Blind Bartimaeus was rightly position for his miracle, do you jump from church to church, work, rented apartment and shop, are you rightly position or flocking around with others? Think on this for a while, why are you where you are?
Good Day and God bless you.

TOPIC: Paul’s Admonition: Grieve Not The Holy Spirit (7)

MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 2:12.
“12. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 4:30 – 32
30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.
32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Welcome to the last day of the week, as we round up our topic with, Grieve Not the Holy Spirit, this is the last admonition from Apostle Paul to us this week. Every action of believes will either grieve or bring joy to the Holy Spirit. As a child of God, we possess the Holy Spirit in us at redemption, it’s a seal upon us and we are to walk according to His dictates. The Holy Spirit won’t lead one into bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words and all evil act, these aren’t His qualities but being kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, walking in peace and pleasing God always, these are His qualities, any other act aside these will grieve the Holy Spirit.
From our studies this week, these acts has been discussed, so if we will walk with Him by avoiding those act we will enjoy His presence daily otherwise He will be grieved. Above all, we need to learn forgiving one another regardless of the offences, since we were all forgiven by God through Jesus Christ our saviour. To enjoy the presence of the Holy Spirit is to avoid acts the piss him off, letting go of every act that leads to bitterness. I pray, may we be able to walk in accordance with the Holy Spirit in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Good Day and God bless you.

TOPIC: Paul’s Admonition: Guide Your Tongue (6)

MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 2:12.
“12. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 4:29
29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Welcome to today’s devotional and i wish you a restful weekend. As we continue to dig deep on Apostle Paul’s admonition to the Ephesus which is also paramount to us as believers, our focus today says, “Guard Your Tongue”, watch what you say, let your conversation be positive to heal wounds not to create wounds. This days, it’s very hard to differenciate believers from the world, our words has become similar to that of the world. We now copy from the world not the world copying from us. Our words has no positive effect, even when two believers speaks it lacks encouraging words. Apostle Paul is saying, let our words be helpful not hurtful, let our words be encouraging to every one who hears it. Speaking from the perspective of faith, induced by the word of God, brings healing but when we speak according to what’s happening around us, it brings more danger and create more fear to the hearer.
It’s time to speak and walk by faith. It’s time to encourage ourselves and others. We need to justify what the word of God says and speak from that perspective to ourselves and others. Foul words, abusive words, discouraging word and fearful word need to be replaced from our heart with the words of faith, yes, it might not be easy but the righteous shall live by faith. Make it your goal to be positive in your words and the Holy Spirit will enable you to live that life in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.

BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 4:28
28 If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.
Today’s word from Apostle Paul’s admonition says, “Be Hard Working to be Generous”. Apostle was encouraging us not to be lazy and depend on others. We shouldn’t take advantage of others by denying them the enjoyment of their hard earn fruit. Yes, as christians, we need to be spiritual and also work with our hand to be a blessing. Taking advantage of others by stealing, robbery, begging and forcefully taking what belongs to others doesn’t make us a follower of Jesus Christ. We are to live by the works of our hands, being diligent at what God has assigned us to do as work. There is something God has enabled you to know how to do without frustrating others.
As Christians, we are to be a blessing not a burden. We’re to be responsible father, mother, brothers and sisters. God didn’t call us to frustrate others but to lift and comfort one and other. Let him/her that thief quit stealing and work his/her hands, carter for his/her household and also be a blessing to others in need. Get up and do something with your hands and brain, in doing that is what the blessings of the lays.

“12. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 4:26-27
26 And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27 for anger gives a foothold to the devil. (NLT)
Blessed day for us all in Jesus Mighty name, Amen. Let me share some questions this morning, have you been in a situation where people criticized you for getting angry as a believer? They mocked you for being angry at their evil act against you or others? May i tell you today that, it’s not a sin to get angry at evil or opposition but uncontrolled anger is what becomes sin. Even our God gets angry, Jesus got angry, but it was controllable. When you’ve become a christian, after surrendering your life to God, you need to work on your anger, you need to be in control of your anger. Apostle Paul said uncontrolled anger lead to sin not controlled anger. The second part is to let your anger go off quickly. Don’t hold onto that anger, say your mind and release yourself from that situation. Anger should be for correction not for quarrelling.
David said in Psalms 4:4,
“4 Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent.” (NLT)
We can get angry but it should be under our control. Speak what you don’t want, what you disagreed with and let it go. Uncontrolled anger is what leads to sin not anger itself. Put your anger under control and give the spirit a consistent place in your life.
Good Day and God bless you.

BiBLE READING:
Ephesians 4:25
25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.
Beloved, welcome to a brand new day. May i ask you this morning, how often do we tell lies? How difficult is it for us to speak the truth in any situation, to our children, spouse, parent, co-workers, boss, even our pastor or church members? Lie is one of the most easiest thing to do and one of the deadliest sin to commit. Apostle Paul admonish us to avoid it, to stay away from it. Lies looks small and very simple to commit but it has its side effect also. Naturally, lies break trust, kills love, destroy dignity when it’s expose. If I may ask, when we speak the truth, how does it affect us? Come to think of it, whatever you lied about is a sin, it’s not always right. We speak lies to cover up lies and the more we keep doing this the more we find it proper and become consistent with it.
Let’s get this truth, when we tell lies, we fear men more than God. We are afraid to put God first. We think of what men will do than how God feels about our actions and words. The fear of the Lord should be put above all else. Be truthful in all your communication, feel free to speak the truth no matter the situation. Any situation that warrant otherwise apply wisdom and keep your lips close. As christians our word should be held in high esteem and not will levity. All we need is to start it right away, avoid telling lies and the Spirit will guide us through in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
