Topic: YOUR MOUTH:YOUR POWER 3: Know When To Shut Your Mouth

Memory Verse: Pro. 21:23
23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.

Bible Reading: 1 Kings 13:7-10
7 Then the king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.”
8 But the man of God said to the king, “If you  were to give me half your house, I would not go in with you; nor would I eat bread nor drink water in this place.
9 For so it was commanded me by  the word of the LORD, saying, ‘You shall not eat  bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came.’ ”
10 So he went another way and did not return by the way he came to Bethel.
When God speaks to us, there are assignments and there are instructions. The assignment is the task to be carried out but the instructions are for our safety. Many has failed to separate the assignment from the safety information like the small prophet did.
The small prophet, as we often call him, in our Bible Reading today, was given an assignment to King Jeroboam and the instruction for his safety but he exposed all his safety instructions to his enemy. Many Christians have fallen victim of this, because we couldn’t tame our mouth, thereby exposing what God instructed us, personally, to our enemies who used it against us. We all know the end of the small prophet, I pray may we be delivered from the troubles of mouth in Jesus mighty name.
Tame your mouth. Watch what you say and to whom you say it. Above all, differentiate your God’s given instructions from your assignment and you will walk in success.
Good morning.

Topic: YOUR MOUTH: YOUR POWER 2: Your Mouth Is Empowered

Memory Verse: Pro. 21:23
23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.

Bible Reading: Lk. 21:15
15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your  adversaries will not be able to contradict or  resist.
As long as we are  children of God our mouths have been empowered. Our words are powerful and has authority. Our words are meant to be final,
“You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you;  So light will shine on your ways. Job 22:28
This is my question, what are you declaring? What are you speaking to your children, your spouse, your workers, about your work, your health and your life? After your prayers what are your saying? Do you still repeat negative words or what you’ve declared in your prayers?
Our words are to place us above our adversaries and not to bring mockery to God. God said, He has given us a mouth that our adversary can’t resist or gainsay, we have a powered mouth already, all we need to do is to use it at our advantage. The wisdom is there in us, we just need to declare it with our mouth.
I declare today, no evil is fit for me, no negativity is permitted around my life and my home. Everything contradicting to what God has said about me, I crush today, in Jesus Mighty name, Amen. Make your declarations today.

Topic: Your Mouth: Your Power 1: Your Mouth: Your Satisfaction

Memory Verse: Pro. 21:23
23 Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his soul from troubles.

Bible Reading: Pro. 18:20-21
20 A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;  From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.
Our mouth is the source of many things we have enjoyed and experienced in our lives. Our mouth has been empowered to do according to what we say. Nobody is powerless. Our mouth is our power. Many  Christians find their selves in challenges or difficulties they couldn’t explain, all because of how they’ve used their mouth.
Our Bible reading today made it known to us that, our satisfaction comes from our mouth, the product of our mouth determines our satisfaction. Are you satisfied with what you have, where you are or how you are? It’s a product of your mouth. Whatever you’ve talked down in your life will always be dead and whatever you pronounce life on will receive the life of God because, your mouth has been empowered.
He who loves to use it will eat the fruit thereof. Speak positively to your business, your carrier, your health and you will enjoy whatsoever you declare with your month. Use it positively and enjoy the fruit thereof.

TOPIC: DON’T BE AN INGRATE 7: Show God Gratitude Always

Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”

Bible Reading: Deut. 8:17-18
“17 then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.’
18 “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He  swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
Every man is made by God, placed by God and lifted by God. Men are just God’s instruments to achieve all these. No one can be without God. He is the ‘God of arrangy’, so He deserves our uttermost gratitude always. You need to be grateful to men also, but God is the ultimate of all lifting. Where are you on the ladder of life? Identify God as your promoter and not your work or effort. King David said in 2 Sam. 6:21-23.
“21 So David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over  Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. 22 And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be  humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of  whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.” 23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.”
David made it know that his lifting is from above and not from men and he has to return all the glory back to God anyhow he feels he can make it possible.
Stop claiming God’s glory over your life, it’s a sign of being an ingrate to God. God spoke to the Israelite not to be ingrates after His blessings over them. When you are enjoying that desires of yours, remember to return the glory back to God. Also remember every vessel God uses for you and lastly, be grateful by helping others to live. Choose to be grateful to God and Men.

TOPIC: DON’T BE AN INGRATE 6: Running Ahead Of Your Shadow.

Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”

Bible Reading: Gen. 13:6-13
“6 Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for  their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together.
7 And there was strife  between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.
8 So Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren.
9 Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.”
10 And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the LORD destroyed Sodom and  Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar.
11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.
12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom.
13 But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the LORD.”
I once worked in a place, where the Boss employed his friend’s younger brother. The employed brother later instigated the transfer of His helper ‘in quote’ from that same location, and he took his place. All the same, it never ended well with him, he landed in fraudulence activities and was handed over to the police, stop running ahead of your shadow.
Lot felt he was wiser than his uncle, Abraham, who took him along in his journey, fed him, made him blessed and great. He was proving smarter by choosing the fertile land for himself. Ingrate only sees the physical because of their eagerness to acquire wealth. They can’t see the traps ahead of their decisions because their decisions are based on selfishness. Abraham was a wise man who presented an open cheque to Lot but he failed. He thought he was smarter than Abraham and the God that worked out the separation between the two. He fell into the wrong land and Abraham still became he’s deliverer.
Don’t try to go ahead of your pathfinder, as God and man. There’s no how you can be knowledgeable than those who God used  to made you and helping you. Stop running ahead of your shadows. Keep following and remain grateful always. There’s always a result for an ingrate and the grateful, choose what you want. Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

TOPIC: DON’T BE AN INGRATE 5: Ingrate Is Not By Status

Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”

Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 16:1-4.
1 When David was a little past the top of the mountain, there was Ziba the servant of  Mephibosheth, who met him with a couple of saddled donkeys, and on them two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred clusters of raisins,  one hundred summer fruits, and a skin of wine.
2 And the king said to Ziba, “What do you mean to do with these?” So Ziba said, “The donkeys are for the king’s household to ride on, the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for  those who are faint in the wilderness to drink.”
3 Then the king said, “And where is your master’s son?” And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is staying in Jerusalem, for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’ ”
4 So the king said to Ziba, “Here, all that   belongs to Mephibosheth is yours.” And Ziba said, “I humbly bow before you, that I may find favor in your sight, my lord, O king!”
We saw how ingrate Mephibosheth was in our study yesterday. How he desired to reign in the place of King David, who made him a “figure” to be reckon with again in Israel. He was so happy when King David was faced with challenges and refuses to sympathise with Him.
Today, let’s study how Ziba handled the situation and the result. Ziba, a slave to King Saul, Mephibosheth’s grand father, whom David made his slave. He deemed it fit to show gratitude to King David, who still made him a slave with his whole family. Still, he refuse to be an ingrate, He chose to reciprocate back to the king, the privilege to serve again in the royal linage. He came with substances for sustenance for the king and His entourage. In return, King David blessed him with the blessing of the house of Saul. He inherited all the wealth of King Saul, why? Because he decided not to be an ingrate.
To be an ingrate leads to decrease and stagnation but gratitude bring increase, progress and satisfaction, even from God and Man. Do not forget to reward someone today for their past acts towards you. God bless you.

TOPIC: DON’T BE AN INGRATE 4: Don’t Be A Mephibosheth

Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”

Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 16:1-3.
3 Then the king said, “And where is your master’s son?” And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is staying in Jerusalem, for he said, ‘Today the house of Israel will restore the kingdom of my father to me.’”
Yesterday, we saw how King David showed kindness to Mephibosheth as a sign of Gratitude to what His father did in time past. He gave all the belonging of the house of Saul to Mephibosheth. He made his grand father’s servant, Ziba, to serve him till the day of his death, and dined on the King’s table but how did he showed his gratitude? Ingratitude.
When Absalom, David most beautify son, rose up against Him to take the throne, David ran for his life and his faithful servants followed him. Zibe, Mephibosheth servant, deem it fit to present some takeaway gift for the King’s surviver. The king was surprise by his presence without Mephibosheth. He asked after him, and Ziba said, he is preparing for the  house of Israel to make him the next King, what an insult? What an ingrate personality? He was ready to take the place of his helper, his lifter, the only one who remembered him in his lowly estate. He wasn’t satisfied with what King David gave him, he was after the throne.
You gauge what you’re being given on a platter of gold, without your demand, and see it as too little, did you worked for it? You are aiming at what belongs to your helper after helping you? Are you not the worst ingrate? Always remember where you were, where you came from before you take your actions. Mephibosheth has forgotten that, he was a forgotten issue in Israel before King David sent for him. When the king would have receive the harvest of what he sowed into his life, Mephibosheth rewarded him with the attitude of ingrate. Please, take a look at yourself, are you not another Mephibosheth? Are you not happy when things go wrong with those who helped you in the past? Are you not in the position of an ingrate to your spouse, your boss or your co-worshipper? Check where you belong this morning.

TOPIC: DON’T BE AN INGRATE 3: Think On Who To Be Kind To

Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 9:1-7
“1 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2 And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was Ziba. So when they had called him to David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”  He said, “At your service!”
3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show the kindness of God?”  And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is lame in  his feet.”
4 So the king said to him, “Where is he?”  And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
5 Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6 Now when Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his  face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?” And he answered, “Here is your servant!”
7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
There is need for us to always sit back and remember how we got to where we are in life. A time to show God appreciation of how He has been with us when the road was rough and tough, how we scaled through and every instrument God had sent to our path to help us get to where we are. This attitude will help us to be grateful to God and also not to be an ingrate to every one who contributed to our present position.
King David was in that mood that fateful day,and he remembered Jonathan, who sacrificed the throne and His sonship to his father to make him get to the throne. He was so eager not to be an ingrate, he couldn’t hide his feelings anymore about what Jonathan did for him. Then, he woke up early that morning and asked the question in His palace and was very specific,
“1 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
“… that I might show Kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
He remembered how much Jonathan did to make him the king, he fought  his biological father, he lied to his father just because of the love he has for David.
Can you try and take such reflection today? There are some helps that came our way that we wouldn’t have escape the situation we found ourselves if not for that person. Can you just remember that Man, that woman, that relatives of yours, your colleagues, that stood by you, their seed in your life is calling for their harvest, don’t be an ingrate. Locate them and be of help one way or the other. Never bite the hand that feeds you, you know why?
1. You might still need that hand in another form,
2. That hand might not allow others to help you again. Act like David this morning and ask questions. God bless you.

TOPIC: DON’T BE AN INGRATE 2: Are you An Ingrate?

Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 2:8-9
8 He raises the poor from the dust  And lifts the beggar from the ash heap, To set  them among princes  And make them inherit the throne of glory. “For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, And He has set the world upon them.
9 He will guard the feet of His saints, But the wicked shall be silent in darkness.  “For by strength no man shall prevail.
An ingrate is someone who forgot who he/she was before God’s lifting. Ingrate is an attitude of ingratitude, selfishness or pride. When others had made sacrifices for you to get to the top or attended to you in times of need and you let them down when they are in need of help, you are an ingrate.
After receiving help to be where you are today, and you find someone in that same position you were, and you couldn’t stretch a helping hand, you are an ingrate.
When you look down on the less privilege, you are an ingrate.
When you deny your parent their right as their son or daughter, you are an ingrate.
When you deny those who built you up spiritually and you couldn’t be of blessing to them materially, you are an ingrate.
When your siblings couldn’t get a help from you and you are a philanthropist outside your home, you are an ingrate.
When your spouse lack the resources you have, when you are a helper outside your home and stingy to your household, you are an ingrate.
God lifted you from that poverty state, rejected state, lonely and homeless state, so you could be of help to others too, to rise and help, but when you are not doing this, it can attract the wrath of God. Nobody is an island, God used someone to made you, be a vessel in the hand of God to lift people starting from your immediate family, to people with good and better qualification, remember people in the household of God also, don’t be an ingrate, show gratitude to God by helping people up the ladder of life.

TOPIC: Don’t Be An Ingrate

Memory Verse: Ps.78:11
“11 And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.”

Bible Reading: Ps. 106:7-13
7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy  mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led  them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
10  And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
11 And the waters covered their enemies: there was not  one of them left.
12 Then believed they his words; they  sang his praise.
13 They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
14 But lusted exceedingly in  the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
“Sing along”
When I think, of the goodness of Jesus,
And all He has done for me,
My very soul shall shout Halleluyah,
Praise God for saving me.
How grateful are you to the goodness of God you’ve never paid for but enjoyed? His undeserved mercy that brought you this far? His faithfulness that has overshadowed your unfaithfulness? The goodness of the Lord is something none can count accurately. It outnumbers our imagination, only those who are sincere can think of them, I hope you are not an ingrate? Be grateful for all He has done, that He is doing and all He will do. Don’t be an ingrate as you go to the bed tonight.
God showed Himself to the Israelite in many ways He has never revealed in the past. Taking them out of Egypt by executing all the first born of the Egyptians, He led them to cross the sea, going through the wilderness for forty good years without sickness, but all of these acts of God was forgotten by the children of Israelite. When they see another challenge, they put aside the past miracle of God and start complaining of the present challenges, and all these made God dealt with them in anger.
Are you the same? Hope you’ve not forgotten where He brought you from? Hope you still remember you were nowhere to be found before now? Hope you remembered, it was God who made it possible for you to be who you are? Don’t be an ingrate. As you lay down tonight on your bed, think, if truly you are not an ingrate and if you are, go back to God and show Him gratitude for everything you can remember about your life. Sing that song along as you think through over your life. Don’t be an ingrate. Let’s study together this week again, God bless you.
