TOPIC: STEPS TO DOUBLE PORTION 7: Be Sensitive
MEMORY VERSE:
Is. 61:7
“7 Instead Of Your Shame You Shall Have Double Honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.”
BIBLE READING:
2 Kings 2:10-13
“10 So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.”
11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.
13 He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
The last test of Elisha by Elijah was, How sensitive was Elisha? How prepared was He for the request He made of Him. Elijah said,
“You Have Asked A Hard Thing. Nevertheless, If You See Me When I Am Taken From You, It Shall Be So For You; But If Not, It Shall Not Be So.”
That was the last step to his double portion. All it required was sensitivity and to the Glory of God Elisha saw him when He was taken away, for the Bible said,
“12 And Elisha SAW IT, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its
horsemen!”.
He was really prepared for the move. If I may ask, Why did Elijah told him, “If you see me?” It was a sensitive instruction. Elijah meant, I will release my power to you when I’m. about to leave and He did released the power via his mantle. Elisha saw him and saw the mantle, picked it up and received the double portion and went on his way. In the race of life sensitivity is the key. It involves your eye, hear and mind to grab what God has in stock for you. Samuel was a young boy when the Lord called him. He heard God but was not sensitive to recognise the voice of God. Many still remain in this position today, we lack that sensitivity to recognise the voice of God, revelation of God and His instructions. If we will go far in life, our antenna must be sensitive to every wave around us, to detect what God is saying per time per chance. How sensitive are you?
God Bless you and Good Morning.
Happy Birthday to all celebrants and Happy Wedding Anniversary to those celebrating today. May you experience God’s fruitfulness in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
