TOPIC: BLESSINGS AND CURSE, TRACEABLE TO CHARACTER 6: Slanderous Character
MEMORY VERSE:
3 John 2.
2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
BIBLE READING:
2 Timothy 3:1-5
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3. unloving, unforgiving, SLANDERERS, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,
4. traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
5. having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
What do we mean by being slanderous or slanderer? This is an act of being both untrue and harmful to a reputation. It’s the act of false allegation against someone in order to tarnish their reputation. The part that caught my attention in our Bible reading today is verse 5, which says,
“5. having a form of godliness but denying its power”
This is very true, there’re Christians, that we worship together in the household of faith, we lift up our hands (not holy hands anymore) together to God but, this set of people still go around slandering the reputation of their fellow Christians, do you belong to that caucus?
Pro. 10:18, says, “Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool.”
Are you a fool? Am I a fool? Destroying other’s reputation because they are better off or preferred to you, can only bring curse and not blessing. Painting someone black doesn’t make him/her looks black. Sisters, someone preferred your friend to you for marriage and you start cooking negatives image about her, it attracts curse. The pastor preferred the other brother to you and you made him your enemy, that makes one a fool.
As the saying goes, “He who told you about me has already told someone about you”, so beware of who you walk with. Watch the character you allowed around you.
Good Morning And God Bless You.
Happy Birthday to all celebrants and Happy Wedding Anniversary to those celebrating today. May you experience God’s fruitfulness in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
