TOPIC: LEAD ME FATHER: Individual Wilderness (4)
MEMORY VERSE:
Exodus 33:14.
“14. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”
BIBLE READING:
Luke 15:12-13, 17-18.
“12. And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.”
“13. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.”
“17. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!”
“18. I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,”
Thinking Point:
“Not all wilderness are God’s ordained, many are self inflicted. Identify the source of your wilderness.”
It’s a new day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
We were able to see some of our fathers who went through the wilderness ordained by the Lord to try and refine them. Today, our focus will be shifting to individual inflicted wilderness. Our Bible reading is about the story we often call ‘the Prodigal son’. This is an example of self inflicted wilderness. When we leave our assigned place to search for greener pastures elsewhere (outside God), we may end up in self wilderness. The younger brother took what belonged to him and went to a far country from home, without investing, he spent large and devoured all His wealth which landed him in the wilderness of begging. Many landed in the wilderness of wrong marriages, wrong country, wrong place of work and some are locked up in prison for cases they knew nothing about all because they left their rightful place or took their decisions without involving God.
Esau finds himself in the wilderness of denied blessings because he couldn’t control his appetite. He gave his birthright away and lost his blessing. Self inflicted wilderness can be handled by identifying one’s mistake and returning to God. The prodigal son came back to his senses and returned to his father. Esau realized his mistake, he tried remarrying a woman to please his parents and later regained little of the lost honour.
That wilderness we are in, may be inflicted by us. You’ll need to sit back to identify where you got it all wrong. Go to God to guide you right and retrace your step.
Father, I am sorry for ending up in this self inflicted wilderness. Oh Lord deliver me and direct my step back to you in Jesus name, Amen.
Good Day and God Bless you.
