TOPIC: OUR GOD’S REQUEST 1: BE BLAMELESS

Memory Verse: Gen. 17:1
“”1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.”

Bible Reading: Gen. 17:1-4
“1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.
2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:
4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.
We all will be asking ourselves, How possible is it to be blameless? Can a mortal man be blameless? Can one be perfect before God? Yes, one can be blameless. One can walk with God perfectly and these can be made possible by living in God consistently. By listening to God’s instructions daily, pleasing the Lord with our ways of life. It is very important to know that, there are several covenants that God has with us (directly and indirectly) through our fathers, and this covenant can only be activated by walking blameless with God.
Father Abraham was called out of the land of Haran to go to the land of Canaan. He obeyed and made the journey, Gen. 12:1-4. He kept following the Lord’s command. Doing God’s will for eleven good years. But a time came when Sarah brought up an advice which seem good to man but not right to the Lord. Father Abraham gladly accepted the request without asking if God will be please with it, and this step made Abraham’s walk became blemish before God.
There are times we try changing situations our own way. When we seek for men’s advice and it seems perfect without consulting God’s mind about it. Truly, those steps brings what we desire but not what God desires for us. The next thirteen years of Abraham, after the birth of Ishmael, there was no record of God communicating with Father Abraham, Gen. 16:15 – 17:1. When He was ninty-nine years old, God called him to walk before Him and be perfect. What the Lord want from us is to, follow and learn His leading not the leading of men. What He sees as being blemish is, we forsaking His path for others path. When we walk away from God’s guidance we are prune to be mislead. Where have you been misled? What was that shortcut you’ve taken against God’s instructions? It will be better to turn back to God and let Ishmael walk away. All that God needs from you and I is to learn to trust Him and walk with Him. Can you be blameless?
