TOPIC: WHAT DETERMINATION DOES 5: It Attract Double Portion.

MEMORY VERSE:
Gen. 11:6
“6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”

BIBLE READING:
2 Kings 2:6 & 15
6 Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, please, for  the LORD has sent me on to the Jordan.” But he said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you!” So the two of them went on.
15 Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.
Service without determination isn’t  complete. Services that are productive are services rendered with determination. When your service is equivalent to others there can’t be a different in result. Determination create the difference from those who served ordinarily.
Mal. 3:18 says,
“18 Then you shall again discern Between the righteous and the wicked,  Between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him.”
This implies that the ones who serves God with determined mind will be different from others. The difference between Elisha and the sons of the prophet is their determination. They have different determination. The sons of the prophet’s determination was to ridicule Elisha that, Elijah will be taking away but Elisha’s determination was to get the double portion. To receive the blessing of your master and God, is to serve with strong determination, regardless of tagged names from your colleagues and family members. The
Determination of Elisha earned him a double portion of what Elijah carried, you can also earn that much, keep serving with a determined heart and you will blessed.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT DETERMINATION DOES 4: It Distinguish You

MEMORY VERSE:
Gen. 11:6
“6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”

BIBLE READING:
Daniel 1:5,8.
“5 And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king.
8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would  not defile himself with the portion of the king’s  delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank;  therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Determination singles you out, it differentiates you among your peers. When you dare to be different, not to flock with others, not being moved by things of life, wealth, food, clothing or beauty, then you are ready to be distinguished for God and your generation. Bribe and corruption working for others doesn’t mean you should partake in it, dare to be different and you will be at the top of the world.
Daniel saw free meal, free drinks, wealth and position but dared to separate ( avoid awuf in disguise) himself from it all. That it’s available doesn’t mean we must go for it. Not all that is available are opportunity from God. Be sensitive to recognize God’s open door for your life. The scripture said,
“20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.” Daniel 1:20.
Let the laws of the Lord guide you into what to do and determine to do it right not because others are doing it or because it’s available. Do things because God want it done and determine to do it right. To be distinguish, do everything Differently.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT DETERMINATION DOES 3: It Makes You A Deliverer

MEMORY VERSE:
Gen. 11:6
“6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”

BIBLE READING:
Esther 4:15-16.
“15 Then Esther told  them to reply to Mordecai:
16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
Many lives are depending on you and I. There are destinies that are linked to ours, such that our failure ends their lives and our success elevate them in life. When we have this reality we will recognise how important our determination means to God and others. Every dream and vision inspired by God has destinies to heal and reshape. Until you walk with that vision with determination many destinies will forever be buried without fulfilment, I pray for someone this morning, may we not fail in our assignments in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Esther was sent into the palace ahead of the evil days but she didn’t realize it, until her uncle made it known to her, that her safety is not sure even in the palace and also, that God will raise someone else to deliver the Jew from Haman’s plot. After hearing this statement, Esther determined to stand in gap for the Jewish people. She said, “If I perish, I perish. I will go before the King” and she did and the victory was real. Until you determine to stand for the course that God keeps revealing to you, you might end up a loser or a failure, none of us will be a loser in Jesus mighty name. What is that course you need to stand for? What is that reproach you need to be determine to end around you, your home, family or place of work, in your church and environ, what is that stand you need to take? Decide to stand in for many generations with your determination today. Take the risk for unborn generation and this present generation.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT DETERMINATION DOES 2: It Reestablishes

MEMORY VERSE:
Gen. 11:6
“6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”
BIBLE READING:
Ruth 1:16-18.
“16 But Ruth said:  “Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go;  And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people  shall be my people, And your God, my God.
17 Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, If  anything but death parts you and me.”
18 When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her.”
Determination deterred all effort to be discourage. Most times, determination seems like being stubborn or adamant to other options and easy ways. It presents you to others a fool when you’re determined in what to do but at the end you are always better off.
The story of Ruth is a well known story to everyone. Ruth was a widow without a child, and a daughter in-law of Naomi, who was also a widow without a child. Naomi felt there’s no reason for keeping her two daughter In-laws without husband and made effort to release them from the vow of marriage. Orpah accepted the offer but Ruth determined to go with Naomi which seems like a hopeless situation but at the end, Ruth was in the linage of Jesus Christ. She became a story to be read today but Orpah was never heard again.
Your determination doesn’t make you a fool, it reestablishes and moves you ahead in life. It may seem stressful but you will be heard of. Be determined to do the right thing and you will be glad you did.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

MEMORY VERSE:
Gen. 11:6
“6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.”

BIBLE READING:
Gen. 11:4-6
4 And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built.
6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.
You are welcome to a new week, May God grants our heart desires this week in Jesus wonderful name, Amen.
We will be discussing about Determination this week. Every achievement whatsoever, is a product of determination. The key to every success, progress and accomplishment in life is a Determined Mind. Determination can be positive or negative, it can be against or for a purpose, but what I want to us to focus on this week is “Determination To Succeed”.
The tower of Babel would have been a world success story if it were to be with a positive mind set. Every flourishing dream today is a product of determination. They came together to build bricks and made a structure that will get to heaven regardless of the distance from the earth, that is what determination can do. It would have been achievable if the purpose was right. How determined are you to achieve that dream of yours? Your determination is the key and the prove to God that you can achieve that dream. God said,
“…, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose (determine) to do will be withheld from them.”
Let your dreams fulfill God’s purpose and it will be achievable with determination.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT GOD REQUIRED FROM US 7: To Love God

MEMORY VERSE:
1 John 4:7-8
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

BIBLE READING:
Deuteronomy 6:4-5.
“4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD   is one!
5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
The Last requirement of God from us that we shall be studying today is “Loving God”. To love God is to be willingly to give out all to Him, withholding nothing. All we are, all we have and who we have become is traceable to God, so we should be able to love Him with all that we have and all that we are. Nothing should be to hard for us to release to God.
How do we love God who is invisible without loving the man and woman whom we can see? To love God is to express our love to those around us, those we see daily. Loving God involves caring for the needy, helpless, the down casted and the less privilege with what God has blessed us with. To love God is to care for everything God owns, that is loving God. Until you love others that is when you love God. Show love to men to prove your love for God.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT GOD REQUIRED FROM US 6: To Honour Him

MEMORY VERSE:
Romans 13:7
“7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.”

BIBLE READING:
Mal. 1:6
“6 “A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name.Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’
God requires that we Honour Him, Reverence Him as Father and as our God. What does it involves to Honour God? Who you honour you don’t disrespect, you listen to Him/Her. To Honour God is to do His will concerning us. The fear of God, (reverence) is another prove of honouring God. What He despise, you don’t do.
Reading through Malachi chapter 1, God revealed how we dishonoured Him with unacceptable sacrifices,
“7 “You offer defiled food on My altar, But say, ‘In what way have we defiled You?’ By saying, ‘The table of the LORD is contemptible.’ 8 And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you?  Would he accept you favorably?” Says the LORD of hosts.”
Most of our offerings are detestable to God. We give God offerings we can’t use as Gift to people. We present some offerings to gain glory in the sight of men and not giving God Glory. Our offerings are presented reluctantly most times, we see it as giving to Men of God and not God. Are you Honouring God with your offerings or honouring men? Is your offering equivalent to what God has done for you? Does your offering Reverence God as the Almighty?
God wants us to Honour Him with our offerings not to honouring men.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT GOD REQUIRED FROM US 5: He wants Obedience.

MEMORY VERSE:
Is. 1:19
“19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;”

BIBLE READING:
1 Sam. 15:22
“22 So Samuel said:  “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.”
God cherishes Obedience than all our sacrifices and offerings. When He gives instructions He expect us to respond in faith by acting without a second thought. Every fulfillment on earth rest on obedience. God wants a total obedience without diluted thought or self reasoning.
From our Bible passage today, it was a simple instructions to the first king of Israel, King Saul. He was sent to destroy the amalekite, every living things therein. He went as sent but diluted the instructions. He spared the king and the sheep, thinking he can please God but that wasn’t included in the instruction. Prophet Samuel came as instructed by God and observed his obedience and discovered the King failed, he told him,
“22 … Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.”
When you disobey God’s instructions and drop your big tithes, offering, danced like King Sunny Ade in God’s presence, He is not moved, because Obedience to God, is better than sacrifice of riches and any currency. God cherishes  you harkening to His voice than sacrifices. Are you obedient to God? Are you carrying out His instructions fully? Deuteronomy 28:1 says,
“1 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently  obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe  carefully all His commandments which I  command you today, that the LORD your God will  set you high above all nations of the earth.
In obedience is where the blessings lies, not in sacrifice. Check your ways today if you are obedient to God.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT GOD REQUIRED FROM US 4: Showing Mercy

MEMORY VERSE:
Math. 5:7
“Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.”

BIBLE READING:
Hosea 6:6
“For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”
Our God is not a God that’s controlled by sacrifices, burnt offering or gifts of money. Many things determines the acceptability of our offerings to God as we have being studying since three days ago. Today, another thing God requires from us before receiving our offerings is to “Show Mercy to others” not just sacrifice. If I may ask this morning, How merciful are you to strangers? How merciful are you to those who need your help? Didn’t you have criteria before showing mercy to others? They must be your tribal person, your family, those that have helped you in time past, you select who to show mercy. Some even believe they are to be shown mercy and not the other way round.
Sacrifice can’t take the place of being merciful. The truth is this, until you are merciful to others you can’t receive mercy. Showing mercy is in sizes; giving a helping hand, lifting one’s burden in your own little way, reaching out to the lonely, that is mercy. Don’t be carried away by your offerings, tithe and seed of faith alone but be merciful in all you do. Most times you need to bend the rules to help people around you live. Are you merciful at all? Be merciful to people around you, both great and small.
God Bless you and Good Morning.

TOPIC: WHAT GOD REQUIRED FROM US 3: A Broken Spirit

MEMORY VERSE:
Ezekiel 36:26
26 I will give  you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

BIBLE READING:
Ps. 51:16-17
“16 For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering.
17 The Sacrifices Of God  Are A Broken Spirit, A Broken And A Contrite Heart, These, O God, You Will Not Despise.”
The third request of God from us is a Broken Spirit; a heart that recognizes his/her mistake and repent of it. A heart that is sober when he/she realizes his/her wrong. This was the secret of King David during His reign as the king of Israel. He is always quick to repent of his shortcomings. He runs to God for mercy, repent and pleads for forgiveness and this is what God wants from every believer, A repented heart. New Living Translation put it this way
“The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.”
Psalms 51:17
“A broken and a repentant heart” can’t be replaced with sacrifice or offerings. How broken are you? How fast are you to accept your shortcomings? When the word of God hits at you, how do you take it? Do you react at the Man of God or you received the corrections? When David was confronted with the killing of Uriah, he was quick to repent of his sins. This is what God seek from us, a heart that is fast to repent and fast to turn away from sin. No matter the weight of the sacrifice of an unrepentant heart, they can’t be felt by God until such repent of their wrong ways. Have you been offering an unaccepted sacrifices to God? Repent of your shortcomings and depart from them.
God Bless you and Good Morning.
