TOPIC: Be Available for God
Memory verse: 2 Tim. 2:20-21
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”
Bible Reading: Math. 21:1-3
“1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
YOU ARE BEEN PREPARED
We are all unique in our ways. God never created two persons the same, we differ from one another. What am called to do can’t be done by you neither can I do what God has predestined you to do. But we all have one thing in common which is, God’s purpose for individuals. We are tools in God’s hand to wrath His desires. There is something you are sent into this world to do and until you get it you can’t be heard or known in the world. We being alife till date, we are been preserved for a purpose. We have a duty to carry out before our departure from this world.
From our reading today, the donkey and the colt were owned by someone and tied to a certain place for the designed purpose. The donkey was being fed, cared for until the day of it’s usefulness.
Am glad to let you know that, you are being prepared for a purpose. There is an appointed day for your usefulness. It doesn’t matter what the situation looks like now, what you are going through or how people treat you, you are being prepared for a purpose. Every situation around you presently is building you for the day of your manifestaion. The donkey and the colt went through a lot of pains, rainy days, sunny days, days without food and lack of care but their day came and they were sent for. Very soon, you will be sent for, but how prepared are you?
Have a wonderful day ahead.

TOPIC: SELF AFFLICTED TROUBLE

Memory Verse: Ps. 7:15

15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

Bible Reading: 1 King 13:7-10, 19-22
7 Then the king said to the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh yourself, and I will give you a reward.” 8 But the man of God said to the king, “If you were to give me half your house, I would not go in with you; nor would I eat bread nor drink water in this place. 9 For so it was commanded me by the word of the LORD, saying, ‘You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came.’” 10 So he went another way and did not return by the way he came to Bethel.
19 So he went back with him, and ate bread in his house, and drank water. 20 Now it happened, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came to the prophet who had brought him back; 21 and he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Because you have disobeyed the word of the LORD, and have not kept the commandment which the LORD your God commanded you, 22 but you came back, ate bread, and drank water in the place of which the LORD said to you, “Eat no bread and drink no water,” your corpse shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.’ ”
MAKE YOUR SECRETS SECRET
The small prophet, as we often called him, was given a Message to the city of Bethel and an instruction for his safety. He went and delivered the message but because of his carelessness, he exposed the instruction (secrets) which was meant for him alone to his enemy and his enemy used it against him.
1. One of the ways we can attract affliction to ourselves is by revealing our secrets to others. Learn how to speak little. Keep your God’s given instructions to yourself. You don’t have to let everybody know publicly what God told you in the secret. It’s meant for your ears alone. Learn to keep your secrets to yourself and your company. God would have told others if he had wanted them to know your secrets.
2. Learn to differentiate your assignment and your instruction. Your assignment is your message to the world while the instructions are meant for you. Joseph only enjoyed the mercy’s of God when he exposes his dream also. The small prophet delivered the message he was sent but couldn’t hold his peace until he revealed the instructions meant for him.
3. Always stand on the word of God.
What your spiritual father, mentor or guardian told you shouldn’t be contrary to what God is saying. The small prophet was deceived by the old prophet thinking he can be trusted. What God says can’t be changed by any man. Trust God’s word to you than any other person’s word.
Don’t cause your own down fall. Not everyone smiling with you loves you, they may share your secrets with your enemy unknowingly.
Let your instructions be kept secret.
Do have a wonderful weekend.

TOPIC: SELF AFFLICTED TROUBLE

Memory Verse: Ps. 7:15
15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

Bible Reading: Matthew 27:3-5
3 Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” And they said, “What  is that to us? You see to it!” 5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.
DON’T BE GREEDY
Judas, one of Jesus’ disciples, brought affliction on himself which ended him in suicide. Judas sold his saviour to the enemy for “thirty pieces of silver” which couldn’t last him for a week. He later regretted his action but he couldn’t escape the consequence.
Many find themselves in their present situation because of bribe, greedy for what is not theirs. The brothers of Joseph in Genesis 37 couldn’t account for the thirty pieces of silver they sold their brother and later met him in Egypt 13 years later.
Money is a defence but can’t buy everything. It’s fails and flies away, why bringing calamity on yourself for what has temporary value? Judas returned the cash (which was rejected) but the deed has been done and can’t be undo. After a lot of thought about his action he committed suicide which means, he lost the thirty pieces of silver and lost his life. May we not make  costly mistake in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
The Love of money is the root of all evil not money in itself. Fight the greed before it afflict you. Be warned.
Do Have A Lovely Day Ahead.

TOPIC: SELF AFFLICTED TROUBLE

Memory Verse: Ps. 7:15
15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

Bible Reading: 1 Sam. 15:7-9, 22-23
7 And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt. 8 He also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. 9 But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed…
22 So Samuel said: “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, He also has rejected you from being king.”
DISOBEYING GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS
King Saul was the first king in Israel. He was very humble when he came to power and God was pleased with him. He was carrying out God’s instructions through Prophet Samuel but one day, he lost his throne due to disobedience.
What is disobedience? It simply means acting (working) contrary to a given instruction.. It may be as a result of selfish interest, too know or fear. In the  case of King Saul, it was selfish interest. Trying to please one’s self against God interest. He saw the big and well fed cow and sheep and he decided to keep them to himself against God’s instructions.
Many marriages today failed or ended in divorce because of disobedience to God’s instructions. Many businesses, ministries, relationships and journey failed because they are against God’s instruction. The result of doing things against God’s instruction is self afflicted trouble.
King Saul lost the throne of Kingship to David household because of disobedience. Are you walking against God’s instructions presently? Are you trying to do things the way others are doing it without God’s instruction? Stop attracting future affliction. Seek God’s will concerning those issues and walk therein.
May we be able to obey God totally in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Do Have A Wonderful Day Ahead.

TOPIC: SELF AFFLICTED TROUBLE

Memory Verse: Ps. 7:15
15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

Bible Reading: Acts 5:1-5
1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. 2 And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles’ feet. 3 But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” 5 Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.
NOT BEING TRUTHFUL
When we make promises or vow with God, it is sealed, it can’t be changed. There’s always a repercussion for defaulting the vow we made to God, and there result is self afflicted trouble.
Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, made a vow to give their property to God by bringing the amount of the property after the sales, but they forgot they made the vow with God and not with man. They decided to take a part of the proceed which was not included in the vow and this led to lying to the Holy Spirit.
Don’t promise what you won’t fulfill. Don’t make a vow you can’t pay. You don’t need to tell the Servants of God lies. Don’t deceive your spouse, let your Yes be Yes and your No, No. Don’t raise the hope you can’t give. Ananias and Sapphira died the same day because they try deceiving the Holy Spirit.
How truthful are you to God? Can you be hold by your word? Not being truthful may attract unexpected trouble into one’s life.
Have A Glorious Day Ahead.

TOPIC: SELF AFFLICTED TROUBLE

Memory Verse: Ps. 7:15
15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

Bible Reading: Gen. 25:29-34
29 Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. 30 And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. 31 But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” 32 And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?” 33 Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob. 34 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus Esau despised his birthright.”
CONTROL YOUR APPETITE
When priority is misplace it can cause an everlasting affliction. Wrong priorities brings wrong future. What is your priority like? How do you handle your appetite? Do you always prioritise your appetite over other things? Through uncontrolled appetite many destiny has been truncated and some have ended up in the grave.
Esau got his priority wrong and it cost him his birthright. Just for an uncontrolled appetite for food, he lost his birthright. The blessings of Esau, as the first born, was transfered to Jacob that same day before the blessings from Isaac, their father. He lost his position that very day for a red stew and inherited a generational affliction. His family, the Edomite, became an enemy with Israel but couldn’t recovered from what their father has done.
Are you setting your priorities right when it comes to your appetite? What is that thing you can’t control your appetite for? Watch out so you won’t end up inflicting a generational trouble upon yourself. Be disciple with your appetite.

TOPIC: SELF AFFLICTED TROUBLE

Memory Verse: Ps. 7:15
15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

Bible Reading: Gen. 4:3-12
3 And in the process of time it came to  pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain  was very angry, and his countenance fell.  6 So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” 8 Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed  him. 9 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where  is Abel your brother?”  He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. 11 So now you are cursed from the  earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.12 When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its  strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.”
CONTROL YOUR ANGER
The first murderer in the world was Cain and he was the first born In human race. Cain raised his hands to kill his younger brother, Abel, because he was angry that Abel’s offering was accepted by God.
When things doesn’t go well with you control your anger towards others that are making it because, you will also make it soon. Things being wrong doesn’t means things will always be wrong. Life is in phases and situations are not permanent.
Cain would have try to know why his offering was rejected but instead he went on to kill his brother and by so doing, he was cursed by God. His uncontrolled anger led to the killing and the killing brought curse on him and his generation.
To be angry is not a sin, according to Ephesians 4:26, “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath”, it’s what you do when  you are angered that can lead to sin. Control your anger in order not to attract trouble for yourself. May God help us control ourselves when we get angry in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
Do have a wonderful week ahead.

TOPIC: SELF AFFLICTED TROUBLE

Memory Verse: Ps. 7:15
15 He made a pit and dug it out, And has fallen into the ditch which he made.

Bible Reading: Gen :35:22
22 And it happened, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine; and Israel heard about it.
Gen: 49:3-4
3 “Reuben, you are my firstborn, My might and the beginning of my strength, The excellency of dignity and the excellency of power. 4 Unstable as water, you shall not excel, Because you went up to your father’s bed; Then you defiled it — He went up to my couch.
Control Your Actions
This week, I will be speaking on the topic, “Self Afflicted Trouble”. Have come to discovered that many are going through some pit which they’ve dug for their self in life. Many seems perfect, holy, righteous but their past is still telling on them. Self afflicted trouble is a product of your act in the past that is speaking against you presently.
From our Bible reading today, we saw Reuben, the first born of Jacob, who laid with his father’s concubine, A mother of two children for his father. Reuben went too far and he paid for it, how? He received a curse instead of blessings.
Have you dug a pit for yourself In the past that is hunting you now? Go to God for mercy. The scripture says God is a merciful God, He will have mercy on you if you can ask of him. Are you thinking of some negative act towards someone now? Please think before you take the action.
Think of your past actions it might be the reason of your present predicament.

TOPIC: GIVE HIM THANKS

Memory verse: 1 Thess. 5:18
“18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Bible Reading: Ps. 103:1-4
“1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction,  Who crowns you with loving kindness and  tender mercies.”

THANK HIM FOR ALL HIS BENEFITS.
If we will be faithful enough to number what God has done for us individually, we won’t outnumbered all His benefits over us, mind you, as you are counting His doings, He is doing a new one.
King David, said, Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not His Benefits. What are these benefits? You can see clearly. You walk around without a helper. You are not where you use to be. Your place has not been taken over by someone else. You have a hope of a better tomorrow. You are married, you have kids, you have a source of income ( no matter how small) Your health is okay, these and many more are parts of the benefits of God upon your life. Above all, peradventure you are lacking one or two of the listed above, you are alive and still better off many. You might not know what you worth until someone pray to be like you. Get this from me today, God has deposited in you what everybody in the world need to be something, just thank God for all His benefits upon you.
Lastly, Jesus died for you to be saved. His sacrifice showed His love for you. This is the greatest benefit of all, That God sent His Son, Jesus, to die for you at a time like this. Give him thanks. He is worthy of it.
Father, thank you for all your benefits that I’ve enjoyed since my childhood. You alone are worthy of my Praise. My soul will always bless you as long as I live, in Jesus Mighty Name I have prayed, Amen.

TOPIC: GIVE HIM THANKS

Memory verse: 1 These. 5:18
“18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Bible Reading: John  15:12-14
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to  lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
THANK YOU FOR THE SACRIFICE
The only act that made Jesus different from other gods is the fact that, He died for the sin of the world, including the sins of those gods, Hallelujah!
Who can rehearse this? Who can sacrifice His life for someone else like Jesus did? He paid the price He did not owe. He died the dead of sinners, making Him a sinner by punishment but not by action.
Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world, friend to everyone, Lord to the believers, this day marks the day you made the highest sacrifice, you were hanged on the tree, killed for our sins, above all, your took away the sins of the world. We can’t thank you enough, Oh Lord, the Lamb that was slain, receive our praise offering in your wonderful name, Amen.
Do Have A Wonderful Day Ahead.
